1869-S $20 Liberty PCGS AU53. $20 Liberty double eagles struck in the 1860-70 decade can be challenging to locate, especially with great eye appeal, and as a result always carry quite a premium over the more commonly traded Type 3 double eagles. By comparison, however, acquiring coins like this could be quite beneficial to the owner looking towards the future as they trade for approximately twice the price yet are hundreds of times more rare.
The present example displays bright tuscan sun surfaces with very light contact marks. The AU53 grade is correct for the amount of wear showing on the high points of the coin. A contact mark obviously from another coin on the cheek serves to identify this coin.
